The theme of this year's show is "The Dark & Cryptic Origins of Nursery Rhymes" - and we all had a great time researching vintage mother goose and other children's books for rhymes and their meanings... I was immediately drawn to an Victorian-esque pen and ink illustration of poor Bo Peep tromping through the forest lost and scared searching hopelessly for her flock. After doing my own search to find the fate of the sheep - i uncovered some additional verses from the original poem that seem to indicate that they met their painful demise while she lay asleep in the pasture....

Little Bo-Peep has lost her sheep,
And can't tell where to find them;
Leave them alone, And they'll come home,
Wagging their tails behind them,

Little Bo-peep fell fast asleep,
And dreamt she heard them bleating;
But when she awoke, she found it a joke,
For they were still a-fleeting.

Then up she took her little crook,
Determined for to find them;
She found them indeed, but it made her heart bleed,
For they'd left their tails behind them.

It happened one day, as Bo-peep did stray
Into a meadow hard by,
There she espied their tails side by side,
All hung on a tree to dry.

She heaved a sigh and wiped her eye,
And over the hillocks went rambling,
And tried what she could, as a shepherdess should,
To tack each again to its lambkin

Design Feature on Wedding Chicks

Check out this fabulous Valentine's Day inspired wedding editorial that I collaborated on along with a few top wedding vendors that was published on the amazing Wedding Chicks, which is one of the top wedding style blogs on the net. The shoot was centered around a Ladies Luncheon in honor of the Bridesmaids, paying thanks to the wonderful women that have earned the title "besties". Not only did I design the invitation, place cards and menu for the event, I also included free downloadable templates for a unique DIY card and gift box. There were so many amazing details captured in this shoot that the feature was released in three parts! I'd love to send a huge thank you out to Christina Diane Photography for the amazing photos - and to all the other vendors for such wonderful work.

Eat Your Art Out IV

Its seems like only yesterday I was submitting artwork for "Eat Your Art Out I" - now this fabulous yearly one-night-only art show is on it's 4th rotation and the list of artists involved grows more and more impressive every year! This year show to benefit the Angel City Derby Girls, held at Meltdown Comics in Hollywood, CA will be housing new works by artists from all over the globe with the theme of "Dark and Twisted Origins of Nursery Rhymes." I know how creepy cool huh?! Check out the poster:

This year I will be showing alongside some dear friends - Ron Rauto (my husband), Sarah Spinks, Jon ARTOO Sajonas as well as a bunch of headlining artists such as Persue', Jim Mahfood & Luke Wessman, just to name a few... and I mean it - see the full line up for the rest of the 60 international artists chosen to participate.

Be sure to come out FEB 26, 2011 to see me and my entourage and have a great time! The auction is a great chance to bid on original artwork in various sizes and price ranges so no one has to walk away empty handed! Hope to see you all there!
